Security and Bug Fix Updates

2011-02-20 - Security/Functionality - Updates to "manage" program

The "manage" program used to add, remove, and update user account and domain information did not encrypt user passwords added to the mail database via the "password" function. All Automate::pdm packages have been updated to correct this issue. Thanks to @mikemackay for reporting the problem.

Users who utilize the "manage" program included with this package to manage their mail accounts are strongly encouraged to take the following steps:

  1. Download the newest version of the Automate::pdm package for your distro to a temporary directory.
  2. Extract the package.
  3. Copy the "manage" binary to your Automate::pdm installation directory.
  4. Review all user accounts in your mail database to ensure all passwords are represented by an encrypted value.
  5. For any passwords that exist in plaintext, update them again using the "manage" program.
